Electrical Shop
The Electrical Shop members are particularly gratified with their involvement in energy-saving projects.
In 2009, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) published a major update to its electrical safety
codes called NFPA 70E. The standard covers the full range of electrical safety issues, including safety-related
work practices, maintenance, special equipment requirements, and installation. Following these standards helps
ensure continued high standards of excellence serving the campus.
The Electrical Shop includes:
- Install energy-efficient lighting and occupancy sensors for indoor lighting
- Maintain the campus emergency electrical system, including generators and inverters
- Maintain the campus lighting system, including street lights, parking lot lights, walkways, and building lights
- Provide electrical construction services for the campus
- Provide service and repairs for the campus electrical system
- Provide support for the campus medium-voltage system
- Restore electrical power when needed
- Retrofit campus lighting
