The Electrical Shop members are particularly gratified with their involvement in energy-saving projects. In 2009, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) published a major update to its electrical safety codes called NFPA 70E. The standard covers the full range of electrical safety issues, including safety-related work practices, maintenance, special equipment requirements and installation. Following these standards helps ensure continued high standards of excellence serving the Campus.

Electrical Shop includes:

  • Install energy-efficient lighting and occupancy sensors for indoor lighting

  • Maintain the Campus emergency electrical system, including generators and inverters

  • Maintain the Campus lighting system including street lights, parking lot lights, walkway and building lights

  • Provide electrical construction services for the Campus

  • Provide service and repairs for the Campus electrical system

  • Provide support for the Campus medium-voltage system

  • Restore electrical power when needed

  • Retrofit Campus lighting
